Mahdis (Ahmadian) Shalchi

is a film and theatre critic, researcher, lecturer, and translator with an interdisciplinary background spanning veterinary medicine, dramatic literature, and cultural studies. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree before undertaking a second academic path in Dramatic Literature, beginning her studies at the undergraduate level and continuing toward advanced research. She is currently an MA student in Dramatic Literature at the University of Tehran.

Her critical and academic work focuses on modern and contemporary cinema and theatre, with particular attention to narrative structures, power relations, and visual culture. Mahdis is especially interested in developing theoretical frameworks that connect medical knowledge with dramatic and cinematic forms, examining how concepts such as the body, trauma, care, ethics, and diagnosis operate within performance, dramaturgy, and visual representation.

She has collaborated with journals, festivals, universities, and cultural institutions as a writer, editorial board member, and lecturer, and has translated and published plays and critical texts. Across her research, teaching, and critical writing, she seeks to sustain a rigorous dialogue between theory and artistic practice, contributing to contemporary cultural discourse at the intersection of science, art, and the humanities.
